...

The Covid-19 pandemic has generated a broad supply and demand of “responses” to and interpretations of the current situation. In the artistic field, lockdown has fostered extimacy and rewarded a series of more or less performative “community” and relational initiatives. Balconies, linked or recorded and shared through mobile phones in real time, have been redefined as spaces for participation in rituals and cultural practices of a collective nature. Specifically, in this article my aim is to reflect on performance and relational aesthetics in a lockdown and post-lockdown situation; that is, subject to logics such as social distancing or other protocols of sanitary and responsible behaviour. In this respect, I will emphasise the metamorphosis of performance, born under the sign of criticism of institutional frameworks, into one of the main channels of community production/expression.
...

...

This article analyses the situation as an aesthetic category and a way of creating a public environment, relating it with the levels of representation and action. It examines the theatricality of the situation; that is, its specific representation mechanisms and the modes of relationship it poses. This approach is specified, at a historical level, through two different contexts: the reception of the happening in Argentina in the 1960s, promoted by Oscar Masotta, and the revival of the latter's work, by Dora García, through the project Segunda vez (2014-2018).
...

Simposi Internacional d'Estudis Escènics: «Facin joc! Formats, dispositius i aparells d’interacció (a l’escena relacional)» (relatoria)
Article

...

Matèria que performa. Estudi ontològic de la matèria i el sentit a Henri Bergson i Karen Barad
Article

...

In this paper I elaborate on how matter is thought of in the work of Henri Bergson and Karen Barad, thus challenging the Cartesian split between body and mind.

On the one hand, I disclose Bergson’s envisagement of matter not as a thing but as a process, and stress how matter plays a central role in the experience of duration, therefore shaping reality as a process of becoming-with. Although Bergson’s diagrams are usually figured as static, I argue that they are actually imbued with movement and should be seen as moving. This bond of matter to duration and transformation blurs common distinctions between matter and language and proves especially useful when thinking of dance and performance as arts of mattering.

On the other hand, I follow Barad’s description of quantum mechanics in order to highlight that matter cannot be torn apart from meaning, since knowledge cannot be produced out of matter but is always constructed from within matter. Barad’s insistence on the production of knowledge as an embodied practice reveals a strong political commitment to the world as an ongoing open process of mattering that asks us to rethink the meaning of agency from a posthumanist point of view.

I argue that, for both Bergson and Barad, matter can be said to perform. I eventually raise the question of how such an approach can help us think about and practise dance and performance beyond the Cartesian framework of the primacy of language.
...

...

Which power mechanisms underlie the process of a story’s transmission? Under which parameters can the theatrical space become a locus of contestation of a concrete regime of intelligibility, or rather a device of institutional cooptation? Departing from Giorgio Agamben’s concept of the apparatus, I will use Jacques Rancière’s concept of the political to explore the emancipatory potential of dramaturgical strategies which, rather than structuring the performance in a closed diegesis, crack it open to the possibility of its disruption.
...
